Grace, it's a name for a girl...
Congratulations to Amy Tuegel for correctly naming yesterday's song of the day. As good as my bracket was yesterday, it is now taking on water like the Titanic. One of my Final Four picks, Texas, decided not to show up today. They did send their star, Kevin Durant, but his 30 points/10 rebounds can only carry the team so far. Also, the Mavs ramped up their current win streak to 3 games with a road win against the fiesty Detroit Pistons.
So for some reason the other day, I was thinking about the great 90s classic, D2. It was one of the more influential movies of my childhood, because it had me outside, rollerblading around, thinking that a kid who lived 3 hours from the closest ice rink could make it in the hockey world. One of the reasons that D2 was such a hit in our area was because the movie cast included Abilene's own Ty O'Neal. Yesterday as I was watching the tourney, I saw a Holiday Inn Express commercial starring the very same Abilenian as a bull rider. While I am glad he is still trying his hand at the acting thing, at some point you have to call it quits. But I will always remember him and his ears fondly when I think of D2.
I heard back from my first law school today. Well actually they had sent the letter to my D.C. address for some reason and it had been in the possesion of the upstairs dwellers for a few weeks now. Anyways, I did not get into George Washington University. I cannot say I am particularly disappointed. I guess rejection always stings a little, but I am not sure I could live in the district for longer than a semester. I still have two outstanding applications, and both are in God's state. I like it better there anyways. To quote the distinguished congressman from Tennessee Davy Crockett, "Y'all can go to hell; I'm going to Texas!"
Today I journed down to one of the more cultural areas of D.C. to track down some Ethiopian injera. (Think like a tortilla only bigger, spongier, and kind of sour.) After walking from the Metro stop to Adam's Morgan, the road forked with shops on both prongs. I chose the right one and passed all kinds of ethnic restaurants and groceries, including Cuban, Middle Eastern, Brasilian, and Ghanan, but no Ethiopian. So I trekked back the other direction and found a small shop about a block down from the fork. I paid five bucks for I think a pound-ish of injera to take back to the fam. on Friday. That brings us to our official count: 4 days until I get back to Abilene. Today I also did some laundry and wrote a letter to the editor of the Optimist (ACU's student newspaper) about Blue Bell ice cream. I am hoping it gets published in Wednesday's edition. Regardless of whether it gets published, the letter in its entirety will appear on this space on Wednesday evening. To close for tonight, I present the another picture of the babies and the caption that Amy gave the picture. The non-Tuegel in the picture is Jane who lives down the street. That's all for tonight...

Andrew,
Did you get a package with Chipotle flakes and Cholula hot sauce? I had not heard and with your post from last night it might be someone else is enjoying this fine SW cuisine.
